Emma couldn’t stop herself. The next day, she followed Liam. He left their small apartment dressed in his usual casual attire but carried a sleek leather bag that screamed money. Curious, Emma grabbed her coat and trailed him through the city.

He didn’t go to his supposed office building. Instead, he entered a towering glass skyscraper downtown. The kind reserved for CEOs and their empires. Emma hesitated outside, her heart pounding. She walked into the building’s lavish lobby, pretending she belonged. “Mrs. Klein, good morning!” A cheerful voice startled her.

Emma turned to see a well-dressed woman holding a tablet. “Mr. Klein didn’t mention you’d be visiting today. Shall I let him know?” Mrs. Klein. Her breath caught. She nodded, feigning calm, and followed the woman into a private elevator.

The doors opened to an expansive office with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. And there he was. Liam. Her Liam. Except he was dressed in a tailored suit, barking orders into a phone.
